- The Metropolitan Athletics Congress (MAC) has a new name, USA Track & Field - Metropolitan. Founded in 1980, MAC is the regional association of USA Track and Field (“USATF”), and sanctions track and field events throughout New York City and the metropolitan area year-round. With current support from the New York City Council, MAC serves approximately 5,500 individual members as well as clubs at the Youth, Open and Masters levels of competition. MAC members come from the five New York City boroughs, surrounding communities, states. Members can choose to compete individually or to be affiliated with a club focused on a particular type of event, such as the National Championships.

- The Sacramento 2011 books for the WMA championship are out and should be available at the national meet later this week. All of the books at the European Championships, except those which were being held for a meeting today, were gone by mid-day of Day 3 and the meet is a 1-1/2 week meet. People are literally begging for the books...so what I am sayin' is...we anticipate a very high turnout for Sacramento 2011.
-
- SACRAMENTO ENTRY BOOKLET: The entry booklet is also available on-line at www.sacramento2011.com (.com, NOT .org).
-
- WMA ON-LINE ENTRY: The Sacramento LOC will give an in-person update this week, but there will be first-time on-line entry for the WMA meet and athletes will enter their own data on-line, with the team manager and the federation having special passwords to go in and validate the entries. Please note that there will be a discount for using the on-line entry system, but THERE WILL STILL BE PAPER ENTRY FORMS FOR ATHLETES WITHOUT COMPUTER ACCESS OR NOT WISHING TO USE THE ON-LINE ENTRY SYSTEM.
-
- HOUSING: Housing will be done by the athlete contacting the hotels directly. Although we were told that the hotel on-line entry system was available immediately, when we tested it a couple of days ago, it was not working, but we have been told that it should be up-and-running within days. We were getting an error message saying that we were trying to book too many days in advance, so if you get this message, just know that error has not yet been corrected.
-
- US PARTICIPATION: Most importantly, we want the USA to look good and we can best do that by having a very high US turnout.
-
- This is the first time since 1995 that the meet is in your own country...you can babble away in your usual non-sensible way and everyone will understand you (at least, insofar as they are able to understand you)...you can waste money in your own currency and understand exactly how much money you are wasting...in short, it can be business-as-usual in familiar surroundings with no stress nor aggravation of foreign exchange nor foreign languages. You can be an Ugly American...in America!
-
- So we expect to see you in Sacramento in 2011 and we seriously expect that (1) each one of you who has attended a WMA championship will attend the Sacramento 2011 meet, (2) each of you who has never attended a WMA championship will attend Sacramento 2011 and (3) each of you will try to get at least ONE NEW PERSON to enter the WMA Sacramento 2011 meet.
-
- See you later this week in Sacramento!
-
- And, no, I am not on the Sacramento LOC...I am merely a cheerleader and somewhat WMA Groupie.
